All the tables belonging to the statistics were updated with new figures for the whole time series when final figures for 2023 were published on 21 January 2025. This mainly affects country background and immigration category, and has minimal effect on the figures, except for the statistical year 2022. After the update, 10,000 more people were classified as immigrants among residents aged 15 years and older in 2022. Around 1,000 of them had Oslo as their municipality of residence.

Statistics Norway does not publish figures where there is a risk of identifying individual data about persons or households. The 'rounding up/down' method is used in these statistics to ensure this by rounding cells containing '1' or '2' to '0' or '3'. Final figures
On 21 January 2025, the table was updated with final figures for 2023 after information on self-employed persons in 2023 became available. Information on self-employed persons from 2022, the year prior to the reference year, was utilized in the previously published figures to improve the timeliness of the statistics. This is referred to as preliminary figures and entailed some greater uncertainty due to different years of measurement. For more information, please read the section 'Frequency and timeliness' under 'Administrative information' in 'About the statistics'. Increase in the number of persons with unknown status
There is an increase in the number of persons with unknown status in the 2022 figures compared to 2021, although the number is in line with previous years. Ukrainian refugees with a residence time of less than one year are behind a large part of this increase. These were registered as residents in the National Population Register as of 30 November but are not found around the same time in the included registers containing information on activities and benefits, such as employment, education, the introduction programme for refugees, or social assistance. Read more about this in the section 'Comparability over time and space', under 'Production' in 'About the statistics'. Priority labour force status
In this statistic, one prioritised status is calculated for each individual's connection to the labour market, education, and benefits. For those enrolled in multiple activities/benefits simultaneously, the status with the highest priority is displayed (for employed persons, the top two priority statuses). This status is determined by a specific hierarchy. For instance, a person who is both in education and receiving disability pension would be classified as being in education for the purposes of these statistics. More information can be found under the 'Definitions' section in 'About the statistics'. Increase in the number of 'Other employed'
The large increase from 2021 to 2022 in the number of 'Other employed' on level 3 of the priority labour force status variable is due to changes in the data source for recipients of sickness benefits. Read more about this in the section 'Comparability over time and space', under 'Production' in 'About the statistics'.
