Footnotes
Establishments in the industrial classification 09.1 Support activities for petroleum and natural gas extraction, and some other industries, are given a land code from the Central Coordinating Register for Legal Entities, even where operations are carried out on the Norwegian continental shelf. Previously, establishments that Statistics Norway considered to be on the continental shelf were given a new code. However, this procedure has been discontinued. This means that many jobs that were previously registered under the Norwegian continental shelf are now considered to be on the Norwegian mainland as from the fourth quarter of 2018. This has further led to an artificial decrease in the number of employed persons on the Norwegian continental shelf and a corresponding artificial increase in other counties in fourth quarter of 2018 and 2019, mainly in Rogaland.
region
See list over changes in regional classifications (in Norwegian).
Tables that use the new regional division also for the years before 2024.
region
21 Svalbard
Svalbard is not defined as a county in the legal sense, but in official statistics Svalbard is treated in the same way as the other counties in Norway.
year
2013
Due to an error in one of the source registers, approximately 200 employees in higher education in 2013 have been incorrectly registered as employed in Tromsø instead of Alta.
contents: Employed persons by place of work , year: 2010
The increase in extraction of oil and gas are mainly caused by a change in classifications of establishments that were previously in manufacturing. This affects approx. 7 000 employed persons.
