From the 1st quarter of 2017 the port call statistics will be based on data from SafeSeaNet (SSN). The statistics now include ships carrying cargo over 300 gross tonnes. Earlier the statistics included port calls from ships carrying cargo over 100 gross tonnes. More bulk ships (ship type 2) are in the new data source registered as general cargo/other dry cargo vessels. The consequences for the statistics are that on port level there will be somewhat fewer port calls, whilst gross tonnage will be less affected. Different ship type codes inn SafeSeaNet also lead to relatively more port calls made by general cargo/other dry cargo vessels and relatively fewer made by bulk ships. Prior to the first quarter of 2015, figures also include domestic ferry transport. The port of Kvinesdal is included in the statistics from the 1st quarter 2020. As of the first quarter of 2020 Statistics Norway publishes port calls for all ship types registered by the Norwegian Coastal Administration. Prior to the first quarter of 2020 only port calls from freight vessels (tankers, bulk carriers, general cargo vessels and offshore vessels) were published. The port of Kristiansand port includes Mandal port and Båly (Lindesnes) in the statistics from 1st quarter of 2021 The port of Kragerø is included in the statistics from the 1st quarter 2023. Starting from June 13, 2024, table 09518 was expanded to include more port calls. This change applies to future figures as well as figures going back to 2020. The change is due to improvements in the data basis.
