Measured in litres of alcohol, Norwegians drank 4.3 per cent more alcohol in 1995 than in 1994. Each resident aged 15 and up drank an average of 4.91 litres of pure alcohol, adding up to a total of 17.2 million litres.
Consumption of alcohol in Norway rose 3.6 per cent per person over 14 years of age from 1994 to 1995. This is the second year in a row that consumption of alcohol has risen. The increase is mainly attributed to higher consumption of wine and medium-strength beer. Despite the increase in 1994 and 1995, Norwegians still drink less alcohol than they did at the end of the 1980s.
