Retail sales in Oslo climbed 7.8 per cent in 1995 compared to 1994. Sales increased an average of 5.3 per cent for the whole country.
Variations between countries
Buskerud County was also well above average with a 7.4 per cent increase in sales. Akershus, Hedmark, Vestfold, Møre & Rømsdal and Sør-Trøndelag all reported turnover growth rates just above 6 per cent. Finnmark has a sales growth rate of 1.5 per cent, Troms 3.0 per cent and Nordland 3.5 per cent. Oppland County set itself apart with a sales increase of only 0.9 per cent last year, in the wake of the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer. Vest-Agder is also low, with a growth rate of only 1.8 per cent. This county had the highest turnover growth rate in 1994.
