More older teachers

From 1992 to 1995 the number of teachers in Norway who were 50 or older increased by 6,000, from 25,000 to 31,000, an increase of 24 per cent. This also means that the percentage of teachers who are 50 or older has increased from 28 per cent to over 33 per cent.

There has been a particularly large decline in the number of teachers between the ages of 30 and 39 and 40 and 49. On 1 October 1995, these two groups had 4,200 fewer teachers compared to the same time in 1992. The reduction has taken place at the same time as the total number of teachers has increased from 94,000 to 96,500.
