The all-items index increased by 1.8 per cent from November 1995 to November 1996 (the 12-month growth rate), after climbing 1.7 per cent in October. The all-items index in November was 265.9.
The consumer price index showed no change from October to November. Price declines for fruit, vegetables and gasoline were matched by increased prices for clothing, shoes and meat.
Food prices as a whole fell 0.3 per cent from October to November, mainly due to seasonal decreases in the price of tomatoes, apples and oranges. The kilo price for tomatoes fell by about nine kroner from October to November. In the opposite direction, the price of meat and meat products went up 0.5 per cent. It is mainly fresh meat and pork that have become more expensive. During the same period last year the prices of meat and meat products fell by 0.2 per cent.
