Prices of new single family homes in third quarter 1996 were 87 per cent above the level in 1989, when price statistics for new single family homes were started. In comparison, the consumer price index climbed barely 19 per cent during the same period.
There have been small changes in the prices of new single family homes in Norway following two years of strong price increases up to first quarter 1996. In third quarter 1996 prices were 4.5 per cent above the level of third quarter 1995. From first to third quarter 1996 the seasonally adjusted index increased only 0.5 per cent.
