Day-care fees, January 1997:

Municipal day-care fees increasing the most

The cost of a day-care place in Norway has increased by 4.1 percent in the last year. Over the past five years, the fees charged by day-care facilities run by municipalities (local governments) have risen faster than private day-care fees.
The increase in municipal day-care centre fees was somewhat higher compared to private day-care centers from January last year until January this year, according to figures from Statistics Norway's survey of the fees paid by parents to municipal day-care facilities and private day-care centres operating without municipal subsidies.
