Two of the motorists killed in March were respectively 20 and 22 years of age, 12 were between 25 and 64, and one person was 77. The remaining fatalities include seven passengers, one motorcyclist and one person on a sled.
Twenty-six people - double the number of one year ago - were killed in traffic accidents in Norway in March, preliminary figures show. The average for March over the past five years is 22 fatalities. Fifteen of those killed last month were motorists, against four last year.
Sixty-two persons lost their lives in traffic accidents in the first quarter of this year. This is five more than the first quarter of last year, but four fewer than the average for 1992-1996.
