Nation-wide retail sales in this period totalled NOK 32,786 per capita, excluding motor vehicles and gasoline.
The municipalities of Førde and Skedsmo were the two top performers in Norwegian retail sales in the first 10 months of last year, posting per capita sales of NOK 70,436 and NOK 62,446, respectively.
Nord-Aurdal and Haugesund rank third and fourth, with respectively NOK 63,383 and NOK 60,390 in average retail sales per capita. Together with Førde and Skedsmo, these two are the only municipalities in Norway to report per capita sales of more than NOK 60,000.
Ramnes Municipality in Vestfold posted the lowest sales, with only NOK 2,333 per capita. Ramnes Municipality has no grocery or clothing stores. In addition to Ramnes, Naustdal and Hole reported per capita sales of under NOK 5,000 in the first 10 months of 1996.
