Industrial disputes, 1996:

Over half a million work days lost


In 1996 a total of 549,842 work days were lost in Norway in connection with labour disputes. This is the highest number of lost work days resulting from strikes and lockouts since 1986.
A total of 53,257 employees were affected by work stoppages in 1996. Compared with previous years, 1996 had the most lost work days attributed to industrial disputes since 1986, when all of 1,030,928 work days were lost, the highest number since 1945.
