Foreign trade in goods, January-April 1997. Detailed statistics:

Increased trade with the USA

From January to April, Norway exported NOK 113 billion worth of goods. Of the total, NOK 57 billion came from crude oil and natural gas and NOK 54 billion from traditional goods, which increased by NOK 1.1 billion compared to the four first months in 1996. Exports to the Netherlands, Japan and the USA increased the most.
At the same time, Norway increased its imports of traditional goods to NOK 74.5 billion, an increase of NOK 3.3 billion, whereof nearly NOK 1 billion related to a 19 per cent increase in goods from the USA. Most of the increase is attributed to imports of American aircraft and vehicles, data processing equipment and machinery. There was also a sharp increase in imports of British, German, Swedish and Russian goods, which increased between NOK 500 and 700 million from each of the countries. Norway purchased more machinery and finished goods from Great Britain, and more vehicles and computers from Germany.
