Enrolment up at NHH


The student population at the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Education (NHH) increased nine per cent from the autumn of 1995 to the autumn of 1996, when nearly 2,700 students were registered at the college. Compared to 1994 enrolment is up by 19 per cent. There was also relatively strong growth in the number of students attending the Norwegian College of Veterinary Science, the Free Faculty of Theology and the Oslo School of Architecture from 1995 to 1996.
The total student population at Norwegian universities and scientific colleges increased by nearly three percent from the autumn of 1995 to the autumn of 1996, when enrolment at these institutions totalled 86,200 students.

At the University of Oslo, enrolment totalled nearly 38,300 in the autumn of 1996, up three per cent from 1995. The growth in the number of students was somewhat lower at the University of Bergen, where 17,100 students were registered. Of Norway's four universities, the University of Tromsø in Northern Norway had the highest increase in enrolment. The university had 6,700 students, five per cent more than the year before. The number of students at the Norwegian College of Fishery Science, which is part of the University of Tromsø, dropped nine per cent, however. Student numbers at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim changed little from 1995 to 1996. Around 17,100 students were registered there.
