Tax revenues up 14.6 per cent

Norwegian tax accounts statistics for January-August show a 14.6 per cent increase in tax revenues compared to the same period last year. In monetary terms tax income increased by NOK 21.4 billion.

From January to August, tax revenues, excluding oil taxes, totalled NOK 148.8 billion. This is an increase of 9.3 per cent compared to the same period in the preceding year.

So far this year nearly NOK 35 billion in taxes, up 6.7 per cent, has been paid to the municipalities while counties have seen their tax revenues rise by 5.5 per cent, to NOK14.2 billion.

Two counties--Oslo and Vest-Agder--have seen tax revenues grow by more than 10 percent, by 14.9 and 10.9 per cent, respectively. Telemark has had the smallest increase in tax income, with 4.7 per cent.

Advance tax deductions, accounting for a little more than 80 per cent of total tax revenues, amount to NOK 137 billion so far this year. This is up 9.5 per cent, while tax collected in arrears excluding oil taxes have grown seven per cent.
