Prices of existing homes in Norway have risen by 52.5 per cent since first quarter 1993. Oslo and Bærum outside Oslo have seen the biggest price increases, with a 92 per cent increase for small houses.
The price change varies according to type of house. In Oslo and Bærum, prices of other types of houses have increased by 75 per cent or more. In Akershus (excluding Bærum) prices rose 60.4 per cent, while Stavanger, Bergen and Trondheim saw a 53.3 per cent increase.
Prices of apartments rose 5.2 per cent from the first to the second quarter, while prices of existing homes rose a total of 3.3 per cent during this period. The comparative increase for single family homes was 3.3 per cent, while prices of small houses rose 1.3 per cent. However, there are clear regional differences in small houses. In Oslo (including Bærum), Stavanger, Bergen and Trondheim, the price index for small houses rose almost four per cent, while in the price zone for the rest of the country it sank by 0.5 per cent.
