Thirteen persons aged 25-64 lost their lives in road traffic accidents in January. Of the 13, 11 were motorists. Among the remaining fatalities, four were aged 15-24 and three 65 or older. One child under the age of 15 was killed.
Twenty-one people were killed in accidents on Norwegian roads in January, while 740 were injured, preliminary figures show. The fatalities included 14 motorists, three car passengers, two pedestrians, one cyclist and one person on a sled.
The first overview for January in 1997 showed 14 fatalities and 796 injured. Average figures for January in the five-year period 1993-1997 were 18 fatalities and 795 injured.
According to the latest overview, 303 people were injured and 11,514 injured in road traffic accidents in 1997.
