From January to May tax revenues excluding oil taxes came to NOK 127.8 billion. This is an increase of 8.7 per cent compared to the same period in the preceding year. Akershus is the county with the biggest growth in taxes, with 11.5 per cent, followed by Oslo and Rogaland. Two counties reported growth rates under six per cent: Sogn og Fjordane with 5.3 per cent and Nord-Trøndelag with 4.3 per cent.
Tax revenues from January to May totalled NOK 140 billion, up NOK 4 billion or 3 per cent compared to the same period last year. Contributions to the Tax Equalization Fund show the biggest growth, by nearly NOK 4.8 billion.
NOK 29 billion to municipalities so far this year
So far in 1998 the primary municipalities have taken in NOK 29 billion in tax revenues, a 2.4 per cent increase compared to the same period last year. There are major differences in tax revenues between the municipalities, and Akershus is the only county in which all municipalities are reporting higher tax revenues. Municipalities in Hedmark, Oppland, Nord-Trøndelag and Finnmark have reported an overall decline in ordinary taxes to the primary municipalities.
