In May there was a total of 18,000 guest-nights in chalet villages. Norwegians accounted for about 45 percent of these guest-nights and foreigners accounted for 55 percent.
German guests dominated the market completely in May with three fourths of the total number of guest-nights. The traffic was especially great in the counties of Southern and Western Norway.
142 chalet villages were open in May this year. These businesses had a total of 964 cottages.
So far in 1998, the number of guest-nights at Norwegian chalet villages has been a little over 74,000. The guest-nights in 1998 have been about 55 percent Norwegian and 45 percent foreign. Of the foreign traffic so far this year almost four out of ten have been German guest-nights, while the Danes have accounted for about three out of ten guest-nights.
