Man-years are defined as the sum of the number of full-time jobs and part-time jobs converted to full-time equivalents, excluding man-years lost due to doctor-certified sick leave and parental leave. Man-years are calculated as a percentage of a standard full-time position (37.5 hours a week), based on the working hours in the reference period, which is a week in November. Statistics Norway’s measured man-year level in November might therefore be different from the man-year level that uses several measurements during the year. Different measuring periods might contribute to dissimilarities between the statistics on man-years and wage cost expenses.
