Man-years are defined as the sum of the number of full-time jobs and part-time jobs converted to full-time equivalents, excluding man-years lost due to doctor-certified absence and parental leave. Man-years are calculated as a percentage of full employment (37.5 hours per week), where a week in November is the reference period. As Statistics Norway’s reference period is in November, these figures may deviate from man-year figures based on several reference periods throughout the year. Potential differences between Statistic Norway’s figures for man-years and the unities own figures are thus due to delimitations and definitions. Furthermore, differences in reference periods may also cause a lack of covariation between statistics on man-years and statistics on wage costs.
