Portfolio investment covers position investments in securities (equities and debt securities). The investor has no intention to establish a long-term economic connection and has no influence on the operation in the investment object. Portfolio investment is defined as cross border transactions and positions involving debt or equity securities, other than those included in direct investment. Since the data capture is based on accounts information, 20 per cent ownership is applied as the limit for distinguishing between direct investments and portfolio investments.
