The purpose of the Convention on Long-range Transboundary Air Pollution is to limit the air pollution in the member states (51 states, including Norway). The commitments under the Gothenburg protocol are linked to the work of the LRTAP-Convention. Norway is therefore obligated to calculate the emission based on the guidelines provided by the LRTAP-Convention.
