If a person is registered as charged with more than one offence, the charged person is classified according to the principal offence, i.e. the offence that, in law, can lead to the most severe penalty. Statistics Norway also publishes tables with all persons’ charges within each group of offence. These tables show all persons charged with one or more offences, and not only those charged with one principal offence, within each of the nine specified groups of offences.
