The score of an indicator gives a measure of the gender disparity in a given area, on a scale from 0 to 1. 1 indicates full equality, for example, where as many men as women have a higher education or where there is an equal distribution of municipal council representatives in a municipality. The score decreases as the gender disparities increase, either in favour of women or men.
