166 000 working days lost

A total of 166 000 working days were lost as a result of fourteen labour disputes in 2016. By comparison, the main settlements in 2014 had ten stoppages and 148 000 working days were lost.

A total of 8 900 employees were affected in a total of fourteen disputes in 2016. Most of the lost working days in 2016 were in hotels and restaurants. This was a total of 6 300 employees and 92 700 lost working days. This makes up 56 per cent of all working days lost in 2016.
