Almost unchanged sickness absence

Sickness absence adjusted for seasonal and influenza variations was 6.4 per cent in the 1st quarter of 2017, which is almost the same as in the 4th quarter of 2016. It has been almost unchanged for the past four years.

Self-certified sickness absence fell by 5.9 per cent from the 4th quarter of 2016 to the 1st quarter of 2017, while doctor-certified absence rose by 0.6 per cent. This gives a total decline of 0.4 per cent. The absence for men and women fell by 0.6 and 0.3 per cent respectively.

Since the 2nd quarter of 2001, when the agreement on an inclusive labour market (IA agreement) was first implemented, the seasonal and influenza-adjusted sickness absence has dropped 10.8 per cent.
