Monthly earnings up NOK 900

Full-time employees in real estate and business activities had average monthly earnings of NOK 34 700 per 1 September 2005. This was an increase of just above NOK 9 00 or 2.8 per cent from 2004.

Real estate and business activities include real estate activities, renting activities, computer activities, research, and other business activities. Other business activities include legal activities, architectural and engineering activities, advertising, security activities and industrial cleaning.

Real estate

Full-time employees in real estate had average monthly earnings of NOK 34 600 - an increase of NOK 2 700 or 8.5 per cent from 2004. This increase was to some extent due to increased bonuses. Average bonus payments increased from NOK 1 600 in 2004 to just above 3 000 in 2005.

Computer activities and research

Employees in computer activities had average monthly earnings of NOK 39 300, an increase of NOK 1 000 or 2.7 per cent from 2004. In comparison research activities had monthly earnings of NOK 37 300 in 2005, an increase of NOK 1 500 or 4.3 per cent.

Other business activities

Average monthly earnings for full-time employees in other business activities were NOK 33 100, an increase of NOK 800 or 2.3 per cent from September 2004. Employees in architectural and engineering activities had average monthly earnings of NOK 39 900, which corresponds to an increase of NOK 1 400 or 3.7 per cent. Full-time employees in security activities and industrial cleaning had monthly earnings of NOK 23 600 and NOK 23 800 respectively. This corresponds to an increase, of 0.2 and 1.3 per cent respectively.

Annual earnings

Estimated annual earnings are based on reported wage information per 1 September each year and include basic paid salary, variable additional allowances as well as bonuses and commissions, etc., but do not include payment for overtime work. For the calculation, information from two years of wage statistics are used as well as information from the wage negotiations. The figures for estimated annual earnings for the current year are preliminary until wage statistics for the next year have been established.

Annual earnings for full-time employees in real estate and business activities were NOK 412 500, an increase of 10 300 or 2.6 per cent from 2004. Employees in real estate had annual earnings of NOK 410 400, which corresponds to an increase of NOK 29 300 or 7.7 per cent. In comparison computer activities had annual earnings of NOK 468 400, an increase of 9 800 or 2.1 per cent from 2004.

About the statistical basis

These statistics are based on information from a sample of enterprises in the section which cover a total of 71 527 full-time employees per 1 October 2005. According to preliminary figures from the National Accounts for third quarter of 2005, the statistics cover about 211 200 wage earners employed in real estate and business activities.
