About the statistical basisOpen and readClose

The statistics are based on information from a sample of hotels and restaurant enterprises covering a total of 17 088 full-time employees and 27 597 part-time employees. The total number of employees that forms the basis for weighting is 86 600 in hotels and restaurants, according to the Norwegian Central Register of Enterprises and Establishments.

The term average monthly earnings is the main term in Statistics Norway's wage statistics. Monthly earnings cover basic salaries, variable additional allowances and bonuses. Payment for overtime work is not included but is presented in the statistics separately.

Structural changes within the division along with the outcome of collective bargaining would have a certain effect on the wage increase being measured.
