Monthly earnings up NOK 1 300 in ICT
The average monthly earnings for full-time employees in the ICT sector were NOK 35 000 per the third quarter in 2003. This was an increase of NOK 1 300 or 3.8 per cent from the same period in 2002.
The ICT sector concists of ICT-related industries from four sections, namely manufacturing, wholesale, transport (telecommunications) and business activitites (consultancy services). Consultancy services holds about 40 per cent of all full-time employees in the ICT sector. They receive the highest monthly earnings on the average - NOK 37 600 per the 3r d quarter in 2003. This was an increase of NOK 400 or 1.2 per cent from 2002.
Higher education
Almost one half of all full-time employees in the ICT sector have completed higher education. The majority has degrees from studies lasting 4 years or less. On average, their monthly earnings were
NOK 38 500 per the 3rd quarter 2003equaled - an increase of NOK 700 or 1.7 per cent from the same period 2002. Employees with education lasting longer than 4 years had on average monthly earnings of NOK 44 200. This equalled a reduction of NOK 100 or 0.1 per cent from 2002.

About the statistical basis
The statistics are based on a sample of enterprises with altogether 37 907 full-time employees per the
3rd quarter 2003. According to preliminary figures from the structural statistics for manufacturing, wholesale, telecommunications and consultancy services a total of 86 863 persons were employed in the ICT sector in 2002.
The data for the ICT-statistics are not collected separately. The statistics are based on already existing data and statistics for the sections mentioned above.

Additional information
Structural changes within the division along with the outcome of collective bargaining would have a certain effect on the wage increase being measured.
