Monthly earnings increased by NOK 1 500
Full-time employees in the information sector had average monthly earnings of NOK 38 000 per third quarter 2006. This was an increase of NOK 1 500 or 4.0 per cent from 2005.
The information sector covers industries which produce goods and services (ICT sector) and text, sound, and pictures (content sector).
ICT sector
Monthly earnings for full-time employees in the ICT sector amounted to NOK 39 600 per 1. October 2006, an increase of NOK 1 500 or 4.0 per cent from 2005. Average monthly earnings for females were NOK 34 300, while males in comparison had monthly earnings of NOK 41 300. This was an increase of 3.9 percent for females and 4.2 for males.
About two out of three full-time employees in ICT are professionals or associate professionals. Computer systems designers and computer programmers, electronic and telecommunication engineers and economists had average monthly earnings of NOK 41 600, an increase of NOK 1 100 or 2.7 per cent from 2005. Computer engineers, technicians and commercial sales representatives had in comparison monthly earnings of NOK 37 400. This was an increase of NOK 1 900 or 5.3 per cent.
Content sector
Average monthly earnings for employees in the content sector were NOK 34 800 in 2006, an increase of NOK 1 400 or 4.3 per cent from 2005. Employees in publishing industries had monthly earnings of NOK 34 700, while monthly earnings for employees in radio and television amounted to NOK 34 300. This was an increase of 4.7 per cent and 4.1 per cent respectively.
The content sector is dominated by employees working as technicians and associate professionals. Typical occupations in this group are journalists, film photographers and technicians and commercial sales representatives. Monthly earnings for this occupational group were 33 600, an increase of NOK 1 600 or 4.9 per cent.
About the statistical basisThe statistics are based on a sample of enterprises with a total of 51 234 full-time employees per third quarter 2006. The statistic for the information sector are based on wage statistics from manufacturing, trade, communications, business activities and social and personal service activities. |

Additional information
Structural changes within the division along with the outcome of collective bargaining would have a certain effect on the wage increase being measured.
