Monthly earnings up 3.7 per cent
Full-time employees in manufacturing had average monthly earnings, excluding overtime payments, of NOK 36 900 as per 1 October 2010. This was 3.7 per cent or NOK 1 300 more than for the same period in 2009.
Enterprises in the food products, beverages and tobacco industry, and in production of ships, oil platforms and modules are the most dominant. Full-time employees in the former had average monthly earnings of NOK 32 000, up 4.2 per cent, and full-time employees in the latter had an increase of 5.2 per cent.
Operators, drivers and craft workers
Operators and drivers constitute almost a third of all the full-time employees in manufacturing. Average earnings for operators were NOK 29 800, up 3.5 per cent, and for craft workers the year-on-year development was up NOK 1 100, which also was an increase of 3.5 per cent.
Professionals and associate professionals
Professionals, such as civil engineers and systems developers had average monthly earnings of NOK 50 600, up 2.2 per cent. Associate professionals and technicians had a growth of 3.3 per cent, or NOK 1 400, to NOK 43 900.
Managers and senior officials
This occupational group had earnings of NOK 60 200 in October 2010, which was up 3.6 per cent. General managers of small enterprises had a substantial growth of 6.1 per cent, whereas directors and chief executives edged up 0.3 per cent.
About the statisticsThe statistics are based on a sample of businesses in manufacturing, with a total of 135 185 full-time employees and 11 920 part-time employees. The term average monthly earnings is the main term in Statistics Norway's wage statistics. Monthly earnings cover basic salaries, variable additional allowances and bonuses. Payment for overtime work is not included but is presented in the statistics separately. |

Additional information
Structural changes within the division along with the outcome of collective bargaining would have a certain effect on the wage increase being measured.
