Average monthly earnings up NOK 1 800
Full-time employees in manufacturing had average monthly earnings of NOK 38 500 as per 1 October 2011, excluding overtime pay. This was a year-on-year increase of NOK 1 800 or 4.9 per cent.
In comparison, average basic salary amounted to NOK 36 300, which gives a year-on-year growth of 4.9 per cent.
Operators, drivers and craft workers
Operators and drivers constitute almost a third of all full-time employees in manufacturing. Average monthly earnings for operators were NOK 31 200, corresponding to an increase of 4.3 per cent. For craft workers, average earnings amounted to NOK 33 700, which corresponds to an increase of 4.7 per cent.
Professionals and associate professionals
Professionals, such as civil engineers and systems developers, had average monthly earnings of NOK 51 900, up 3.6 per cent, while associate professionals and technicians had average monthly earnings of NOK 45 100, up 3.9 per cent.
Managers and senior officials
Average monthly earnings for managers and senior officials were NOK 62 500, which corresponds to an increase of 4.9 per cent.
About the statisticsThe statistics are based on information from a sample of enterprises covering a total of 129 200 full-time employees and 11 633 part-time employees. The total number of employees that forms the basis for weighting is 223 000 in manufacturing, according to the Norwegian Central Register of Enterprises and Establishments. The term average monthly earnings is the main term in Statistics Norway's wage statistics. Monthly earnings cover basic salaries, variable additional allowances and bonuses. Payment for overtime work is not included but is presented in the statistics separately. Structural changes within the division along with the outcome of collective bargaining would have a certain effect on the wage increase being measured. |
