2.6 per cent wage-growth
The full-time employees in county municipality and local government had average monthly earnings of NOK 25 800 per 1 December 2005. This equals an increase of NOK 700 or 2.6 per cent compared to 1 November 2004.
The average monthly earnings for men in this sector was NOK 27 200 in 2005, however two thirds of the employees are female. The average monthly earnings for women was NOK 25 000 in 2005, constituting 92 per cent of the equivalent number for men. In central administration jobs women’s average earnings was 87 per cent of men’s. In health services and social caring women are clearly predominant. Here their average monthly earnings are respectively 91 and 96 per cent of that given to their male colleagues.
About the statistical basis
The statistics cover 298 959 employees in municipalities and county municipalities per 1 December 2005, excluding employees paid by the hour. The statistics are based on data from the Staff Administration Information System (PAI) of the Norwegian Association of Local and Regional Authorities. Employees in power production, power supply and teaching personnel in schools are not included in the statistical basis.

Additional information
The statistics include information on all full-time and part-time employees with a fixed salary in municipalities and county municipalities as per 1 December. For employees who have more than one job, only their main occupation is included in the statistical basis.
