Monthly earnings increased by NOK 1 100
Full-time employees in electricity supply had average monthly earnings of NOK 23 700 at 1 October 2000. This was NOK 1 100 more than at the same time the year before, or an increase of 5 per cent.
Basic paid salary amounted to an average of NOK 23 000, which means an increase of almost NOK 1 200, or 5.6 per cent from October 1999 to October 2000.
Craft and related trade workers: 3.8 per cent increase
The dominant occupational group in electricity supply is craft and related trade workers, who account for nearly half of all full-time employees in the industry. Craft and related trade workers had average monthly earnings of around NOK 21 100, equivalent to an increase of around NOK 800 or 3.8 per cent from the year before.
Technicians and associated professionals: 8.4 and 6.8 per cent increase
For technicians and associated professionals the increase in monthly earnings was NOK 1 900 or 8.4 per cent, from NOK 23 300 at October 1999 to NOK 25 200 at October 2000. Professionals had a similar increase in monthly earnings, with about NOK 1 900. This occupational group had monthly earnings of NOK 29 300, equivalent to a 6.8 per cent increase from the year before.
Other occupations: 8.7 per cent increase for senior officers and managers
Average monthly earnings for full-time employees in office, sales and service occupations was NOK 20 700, an increase of NOK 1 000 or 5.3 per cent from the year before. By comparison, machine operators and drivers had monthly earnings of NOK 22 400, an increase of NOK 500 or 2.1 per cent. Senior officials and managers had monthly earnings of NOK 33 500, an increase of just about NOK 2 700 or 8.7 per cent from the same time the year before.

About the statistical basis
The statistics are based on information from a sample of enterprises which cover a total of 11 001 full-time and 1 216 part-time employees. According to preliminary figures from the national accounts for the 3rd quarter of 2000 the statistics cover approx. 17 100 employed wage earners in manufacturing.

Additional information
The wage statistics have the same reference date each year; 1 October, regardless of when the results from the wage settlements apply.
Structural changes within the division along with the outcome of collective bargaining would have a certain effect on the wage increase being measured.
