Monthly earnings up NOK 1 300
Average monthly earnings, excluding overtime pay, for full-time employees in arts, entertainment and recreation activities were NOK 37 700 as per 1 October 2012. This is an increase of NOK 1 300 or 3.6 per cent compared to the same period the year before.

The area of arts, entertainment and recreation includes libraries, museums and archives, lotteries and gambling, and sports, recreation and leisure activities, such as theme parks, swimming pools and gymnasiums.
Arts and entertainment
Average earnings for full-time employees in art and entertainment increased by NOK 1 600 or 4.3 per cent during the period. The average monthly earnings were NOK 38 600. Academic professions are heavily represented within this industry, and include musicians, actors, dancers and directors, among others. The average monthly earnings for this group were NOK 41 400 in 2012, which is an increase of NOK 1 500 or 3.8 per cent from the previous year. Within technical and associate professions, the increase in average earnings was NOK 2 000 or 6.1 per cent, making the average earnings in 2012 NOK 35 000. Stage manager is one of the professions found in this group.
Libraries and museums
For full-time employees in libraries, museums and archives etc., average monthly earnings rose by NOK 1 200 or 3.4 per cent to NOK 36 6400 between October 2011 and October 2012. Academic professions, which include archivists and curators, had a monthly salary of NOK 39 400, while technical and associate professionals received NOK 34 900 as of 1 October 2012. This is an increase from 2011 of 4.8 and 2.0 per cent respectively.
Sports, recreation and leisure
The average monthly earnings for employees in sports, recreation and leisure were NOK 36 000 as per October 2012. This is an increase of NOK 1 400 or 4.0 per cent from the year before. Fitness centres, sport clubs and amusement parks are included in this industry. For technical and associate professionals, average monthly earnings were NOK 37 700. This is an increase of NOK 800 or 2.2 per cent compared to the previous year.

The statistics are based on information from a sample of enterprises in arts, entertainment and recreation activities covering a total of 8 621 full-time employees and 5 806 part-time employees. The total number of employees that forms the basis for weighting is 25 400 in arts, entertainment and recreation activities, according to the Norwegian Central Register of Enterprises and Establishments.
The term average monthly earnings is the main term in Statistics Norway's wage statistics. Monthly earnings cover basic salaries, variable additional allowances and bonuses. Payment for overtime work is not included but is presented in the statistics separately.
Structural changes within the division along with the outcome of collective bargaining would have a certain effect on the wage increase being measured.
