Monthly earnings increased by NOK 800

At 1 October full-time employees in private education had average monthly earnings of NOK 24 100. This was an increase of NOK 800 or 3.4 per cent from the same time the year before.

Average monthly earnings for full-time employees in private primary education were NOK 20 800, an increase of NOK 900 or 4.7 per cent from October 1999. For full-time employees in private secondary education monthly earnings totalled NOK 24 700, an increase of NOK 1 100 or 4.7 per cent. Corresponding monthly earnings for full-time employees at private universities and colleges were NOK 27 300, an increase of NOK 600 or 2.3 per cent. For full-time employees in adult and other education monthly earnings were NOK 22 300, an increase of NOK 900 or 4.4 per cent.

Teaching staff

Private secondary schoolteachers and other professionals in positions requiring at least 4 years higher education had monthly earnings of NOK 26 400. This was NOK 1 300 or 5.2 per cent more than the year before. Other teachers, technicians and associated professionals (in jobs requiring 1-3 years higher education) had monthly earnings of NOK 24 000, an increase of NOK 900 or 4.1 per cent.

Professional teaching staff in adult and other education had monthly earnings of NOK 23 300, an increase of NOK 900 or 4.1 per cent. Other teachers, technicians and associated professionals had monthly earnings of NOK 23 200, an increase of NOK 800 or 3.4 per cent from the same time the year before.

Other occupational groups

Senior administrators in private education had average monthly earnings of NOK 33 100, an increase of NOK 1 800 or 5.8 per cent. In secondary schools senior administrators had monthly earnings of NOK 34 300, an increase of NOK 1 800 or 5.5 per cent from the year before. In activities associated with adult and other education, corresponding pay for senior administrators was NOK 28 600, an increase of NOK 1 900 or 7.2 per cent from the year before. In comparison, senior administrators at private universities and colleges had monthly earnings of NOK 39 400, an increase of NOK 1 500 or 4 per cent.

Full-time clerks had average monthly earnings of NOK 19 200, which was about NOK 600 or 3.5 per cent more than the year before.

About the statistical basis

The statistics are based on a sample of enterprises which cover a total of 3 728 full-time employees and 1 981 part-time employees. According to preliminary figures from the national accounts for the third quarter 2000, the statistics cover around 15 200 employees in private education.
