Monthly earnings up NOK 1 100

Monthly earnings for full-time employees in private education were NOK 30 100 per 1 October 2005. This was an increase of NOK 1 100 or 3.7 per cent from 2004.

Full-time employees in private secondary schools had monthly earnings of NOK 30 400, an increase of NOK 800 or 2.9 per cent. Monthly earnings for employees in private higher education were NOK 33 600, which corresponds to an increase of NOK 1 400 or 4.4 per cent.

Teaching staff

Nearly 50 per cent of all full-time employees in private education are professionals, such as teaching professionals in secondary and higher education. Monthly earnings for all professionals were NOK 31 900, an increase of NOK 800 or 2.6 per cent. Professionals in secondary schools had an increase in monthly earnings of NOK 800, while professionals in higher education had an increase of NOK 1 400.

Technicians and associate professionals in private primary education, where teaching associate professionals are dominating, had monthly earnings of NOK 25 600. This was an increase of NOK 600. Teachers and other associate professionals in adult and other education had, in comparison, monthly earnings of NOK 28 700, an increase of NOK 700 or 2.6 per cent from 2004.

Other occupational groups

Senior officials and managers had monthly earnings of NOK 39 400, an increase of NOK 2 500 or 6.8 per cent. For market sales workers and service workers monthly earnings amounted to NOK 23 200. This was an increase of NOK 800 or 3.8 per cent. Caretakers and child-care workers are found in this occupational group. Monthly earnings for clerks were, in comparison, NOK 24 200, an increase of NOK 900.

About the statistical basis

The statistics are based on a sample of enterprises in private education with 4 435 full-time employees. The data do not include private folk high schools. According to preliminary figures from the national accounts for third quarter 2005, the statistics cover approximately 15 900 employees in private education.
