Monthly earnings up NOK 1 200

Monthly earnings for full-time employees in private higher education were NOK 34 800 per 1 October 2006. This was an increase of NOK 1 200 or 3.6 per cent from 2005.

Full-time employees in primary education had monthly earnings of NOK 26 700, an increase of NOK 600 or 2.3 per cent. In comparison monthly earnings for employees in secondary education were NOK 31 000, which corresponds to an increase of NOK 600 or 2.1 per cent.

Professionals increased monthly earnings by 3.9 per cent

Nearly 50 per cent of all full-time employees in private education are professionals, such as teaching professionals in secondary and higher education. Monthly earnings for all professionals were NOK 33 200, an increase of NOK 1 200 or 3.9 per cent. Males working as professionals had monthly earnings of NOK 34 900, while females in comparison had monthly earnings of NOK 31 200. This was an increase of 3.5 per cent for males and 3.7 per cent for females.

Technicians and associate professionals, where teaching associate professionals are dominating, had monthly earnings of NOK 28 900. This was an increase of NOK 1 100 or 3.9 per cent. Males working as teachers had monthly earnings of NOK 29 900, while females had monthly earnings of NOK 27 500. This corresponds to an increase of 3.4 per cent and 4.2 per cent respectively.

Increased annual earnings

Employees in higher education had annual earnings of NOK 413 500, an increase of NOK 14 900 or 3.7 per cent. In comparison employees in adult and other education had annual earnings of NOK 364 600. This was an increase of NOK 14 200 or 4.0 per cent.

About the statistical basis

The statistics are based on a sample of enterprises in private education with 4 360 full-time employees. According to preliminary figures from the national accounts for third quarter 2006, the statistics cover approximately 16 100 employees in private education.
