Monthly earnings increased by 3.8 per cent

Full-time employees in transport and communication had monthly earnings of NOK 29 500 per 1 October 2005. This was an increase of NOK 1 100 or 3.8 per cent from 2004.

The monthly salary in air transport was NOK 37 500. In comparison, the average monthly earnings for employees in land transport were NOK 25 000.

Annual earnings

In 2005, the estimated annual earnings of full-time employees in transport and communication were NOK 349 100, up NOK 10 600 or 3.1 per cent from 2004. The average annual earnings of employees in air transport were NOK 444 700, an increase of NOK 16 300 or 3.8 per cent from 2004. Employees in land transport had average annual earnings of NOK 297 400. This was an increase of NOK 7 800 or 2.7 per cent.

Estimated annual earnings are calculated by use of information from wage statistics for 2004 and 2005 in addition to information from wage negotiations and the quarterly wage index. The quarterly wage index is used to distribute the increase in wages throughout the year. The estimated annual earnings figures for 2005 are preliminary until wage statistics for 2006 have been established.

About the statistics

The statistics are based on a sample of enterprises with 73 503 full-time employees. According to preliminary figures from the National Accounts for the third quarter 2005 the statistics cover about 168 300 employees in transport and communication.
