Monthly earnings increased by 6.4 per cent

Average monthly earnings for all employees in publicly maintained schools - overtime not included - were NOK 35 000 in the third quarter of 2008. This is a year-on-year increase of NOK 2 100, or 6.4 per cent.

Monthly earnings of full-time employees rose by 6.3 per cent, to NOK 35 300, from the third quarter of 2007 to the third quarter of 2008.

Full-time employees in primary and lower secondary schools had an average monthly earning of NOK 34 500, a 5.9 per cent increase from 2007. Employees in upper secondary education had a monthly earning of NOK 37 200, a 7.2 per cent increase.

The statistics are based on information for 94 698 employees in publicly maintained schools, per 1 December 2008. The statistics are based on data collected by the Norwegian Association of Local and Regional Authorities (KS).
