1.9 per cent wage-growth in public schools

Full-time employees in publicly maintained schools had average monthly earnings of NOK 31 100 per 1 December 2005, an increase of NOK 600 or 1.9 per cent from 1 November 2004.

Publicly maintained schools consists of primary and secondary education with average monthly earnings of NOK 30 500 and NOK 32 500 respectively by 1 December 2005. Accordingly the increase from 2004 was NOK 700 or 2.3 percent for teaching staff in primary education. In secondary education the increase was NOK 200, a modest 0.7 percent.

About the statistical basis

The statistics are based on information on 60 653 full-time employees in publicly maintained schools per 1 December 2005. The statistics are based on data from the Staff Administration Information System (PAI) of the Norwegian Association of Local and Regional Authorities.
