Monthly earnings increased by NOK 1 100
The average monthly earnings of full-time employees in social and personal service activities were NOK 30 000 per 1 October 2004. This is an increase of NOK 1 100, or 3.7 per cent, from 2003.
Social and personal service activities include sewage and refuses disposal, membership organisations, and recreational, cultural and sporting activities among others.

Membership organisations
This group includes business, employers' and professional organisations, trade unions and other membership organisations.
The monthly earnings of employees in business and employers' organisations were NOK 37 900, up NOK 1 500, or 4.1 per cent. While the average earnings of senior officials and managers were NOK 51 700, they were NOK 39 500 for professionals, an increase of NOK 2 100 and NOK 1 000 respectively. Clerks' monthly earnings were NOK 25 900, an increase of NOK 600, or 2.3 per cent.
In comparison, the monthly earnings of employees in trade unions were NOK 32 900. This is an increase of NOK 700, or 2.3 per cent, compared to 2003. In this group monthly earnings of clerks were NOK 26 000, up NOK 400. The monthly earnings of senior officials and managers were NOK 41 000, an increase of NOK 600. For professionals, the corresponding figure was NOK 35 400, an increase of NOK 600.
Recreational, cultural and sporting activities
This group includes motion picture and video activities, radio and television activities, news agencies and other entertainment activities.
Full-time employees in radio, television, news agencies and the like earned NOK 32 200 on average, an increase of approximately NOK 1 800, or 5.9 per cent, from 2003. The monthly earnings of journalists and other associate professionals were NOK 30 700, an increase of NOK 1 600, or 5.6 per cent.
Other personal service activities
Other personal service activities include washing, dry-cleaning, hairdressing, beauty treatment etc.
The monthly earnings of full-time employees in washing and dry-cleaning were NOK 21 900 per 1 October 2004, an increase of NOK 600 from 2003.
The monthly earnings of hairdressers and beauticians were NOK 20 900, an increase of NOK 400 from 2003.
About the statistical basis
The statistics are based on a sample of enterprises with 22 827 full-time employees. According to preliminary figures from the national accounts for the third quarter 2004, the statistics cover about 76 100 employees in social and personal service activities.

Additional information
Structural changes within the division along with the outcome of collective bargaining would have a certain effect on the wage increase being measured.
