Monthly earnings up by NOK 1 100

Average monthly earnings for full-time employees in central government maintained hospitals were NOK 31 800 in October 2006. This is an increase of NOK 1 100 or 3.5 per cent from October 2005.

Central government maintained hospitals are dominated by occupational groups such as professional and specialist nurses, doctors and nursing assistants. About two thirds of the employees are women.

Nurses

Professional and specialist nurses working full-time had average monthly earnings of NOK 29 600, an increase of NOK 800 or 2.8 per cent from 2005. Nursing assistants and care assistants had monthly earnings of NOK 23 900, an increase of NOK 800 or 3.4 per cent.

Doctors and psychologists

Monthly earnings for doctors working full-time were NOK 56 500, an increase of NOK 2 100 or 3.9 per cent. In comparison, psychologists had average monthly earnings of NOK 34 000. This is an increase of NOK 1 900 or 5.8 per cent.

Radiographers and life science technicians

Radiographers and audiology associate professionals had average monthly earnings of NOK 27 300, an increase of NOK 600 or 2.3 per cent. Life science technicians had monthly earnings of NOK 27 100. This is an increase of NOK 800 or 3.0 per cent.

Secretaries

Secretaries working full-time had average monthly earnings of NOK 22 200, an increase of NOK 500 or 2.5 per cent.

About the statistical basis

The statistics are based on information from all central government maintained hospitals in all health regions, and include all employees working full-time.

Monthly earnings include salary according to scale and fixed and variable additional allowances. Payment for overtime work is not included.
