Monthly earnings up NOK 2 000

Full-time employees in the health enterprises had average monthly earnings of NOK 40 700 as per 1 October 2011, excluding overtime pay. This is a year-on-year increase of NOK 2 000 or 5.2 per cent.

The majority of employees in the health enterprises are nurses, physicians and auxiliary nurses. Approximately three-quarters of all employees in health institutions are women.

Nurses

Full-time employed nurses had average monthly earnings of NOK 34 800. This is an increase of NOK 1 200 or 3.6 per cent.

Physicians

Full-time employed physicians had average monthly earnings of NOK 63 300, which corresponds to a year-on-year increase of 3.1 per cent.

About the statistical basis

The statistics are based on information from state hospitals in all health regions, and include 64 857 full-time employees and 57 113 part-time employees.

Monthly earnings include salary according to scale and fixed and variable additional allowances. Payment for overtime work is not included.
