Many drivers and operators

The occupational group with most employees is drivers and operators, e.g. operators in water treatment plants and semi-skilled workers at waste dumps. For this group we find growth in average earnings of 3.2 per cent, up to NOK 31 900 per month. Of this, NOK 30 200 was basic salary, while variable additional allowances constituted NOK 1 300 and bonuses NOK 400.

Craft workers up 3.5 per cent

Another numerous occupational group in this industry is craft workers, which largely consists of skilled workers. This group had a wage increase of 3.5 per cent, from NOK 31 500 per month to NOK 32 600.

About the statistical basis

The statistics are based on information from a sample of water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities covering a total of 8 757 full-time employees and 1 305 part-time employees. The total number of employees that forms the basis for weighting is 10 600 in water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities, according to the Norwegian Central Register of Enterprises and Establishments.

The term average monthly earnings is the main term in Statistics Norway's wage statistics. Monthly earnings cover basic salaries, variable additional allowances and bonuses. Payment for overtime work is not included but is presented in the statistics separately.

Structural changes within the division along with the outcome of collective bargaining would have a certain effect on the wage increase being measured.
