More life insurance gross claim payments
In 2010, life insurance companies had an increase in their gross claim payments of 15.3 per cent compared to the year before. Non-life insurance companies had a 1.3 per cent increase in claims raised.
Non-life insurance
The nominal growth in premium income for the non-life insurance industry was NOK 1.8 billion in 2010; this corresponds to a 3.6 per cent growth. The growth in claims raised was NOK 0.5 billion; an increase of 1.3 per cent compared with the previous year.
Accident insurance; increase in claims raised
In 2010, there was an increase in earned premiums for almost all private non-life insurance services. Motor vehicle insurance services had an increase of 6.8 per cent. Claims raised increased by 12 per cent for private non-life insurance services. Motor vehicle insurance had an increase in claims raised of 11.6 per cent in 2010.
Increased premiums for life insurance
Gross premiums written for life insurance increased by NOK 1.6 billion in 2010 compared to 2009. During the same period, gross claim payments increased by 15.3 per cent.
The group pension service has the largest share of the gross premiums written and gross claim payments for life insurance. From 2009 to 2010, gross premiums written for group pension services increased by 4.5 per cent. Accident insurance services had an increase in gross premiums written by 19.4 per cent. Gross claim payments for group pension services increased by 9 per cent in 2010. Individual capital insurance had a 53.4 per cent increase in gross claim payments.
