Strong growth in total credit continues

The credit indicator C3 amounted to NOK 3 093 billion at end October. The twelve-month growth was 15.0 per cent to end October, down from 15.3 per cent to end September, the highest growth since the 1980s.

The public’s external loan debt amounted to NOK 548 billion at the end of October. The annual growth was 17.1 per cent, up from 17.0 per cent to end September. The twelve-month growth in external loan debt has grown considerably during the last months. See also "The Public’s External Loan Debt" .

Decrease in domestic credit growth in October

The twelve-month growth in the public’s gross domestic debt (C2) was 14.6 per cent to end October, down from 15.0 per cent to end-September. As stated in previous publications, the C2 annual growth was 14.8 per cent to end November, see Credit indicator C2 .

C3 is an approximate measure of the size of the total gross debt of the public (households, non-financial enterprises and municipalities) in NOK and foreign exchange. C3 comprises the sum of C2 (the public’s domestic gross debt) and the public’s external loan debt where C2 constitutes the major part. The C3 statistics is published approximately one month later than C2.
