Weaker total loan debt growth
The twelve-month growth in total gross debt (C3) was 2.8 per cent to end-February 2016, down from 3.1 per cent the previous month. The decrease stemmed from both domestic and foreign debt sources.

Total gross debt amounted to NOK 6 396 billion at end-February, up from NOK 6 386 billion at end-January.
Mainland Norway’s gross debt accounted for 86 per cent of the total gross debt at end-February. This amounted to NOK 5 499 billion.
Weaker foreign debt growth
The general public gross foreign debt, which mainly relates to non-financial corporations, amounted to NOK 1 453 billion at end-February, down from NOK 1 461 billion the previous month. The twelve-month growth decreased from -3.5 per cent to end-January to -4.9 per cent to end-February.
Mainland Norway accounted for 50 per cent of the public gross foreign debt, which amounted to NOK 720 billion at end-February. The twelve-month growth in mainland Norway’s foreign debt was -1.2 per cent to end-February, down from -0.7 per cent to end-January.
Offshore industries accounted for the remainder of the foreign debt, which amounted to NOK 733 billion at end-February. The twelve-month growth was -8.4 per cent to end-February, down from -6.3 per cent to end-January.
The decreased foreign debt growth stemmed from long-term loan debt.
