Highest net purchases in bond funds
The total value of Norwegian mutual funds went up by NOK 55.9 billion to a total of NOK 879.7 billion during the second quarter of 2014. This constitutes an increase of 6.8 per cent, which was mainly due to the increase in values of the funds, as well as net purchases of new funds.

The net sales of the fund shares were NOK 18.6 billion during the second quarter of 2014. This was considerably lower in comparison with the previous quarter. However, the same type of funds has been attractive for investors during these two periods; bond funds and other bond funds. Investors net bought bond funds for NOK 6.2 billion, other bond funds for NOK 5.1 billion and equity funds for NOK 3.2 billion.
Increase in the value of equity funds
During the second quarter of 2014, the value of the equity funds increased by NOK 34.6 billion or 8.5 per cent, bringing the total value of equity funds up to NOK 440.3 billion. This follows the developments in the total shares market as mentioned in the Norwegian Central Securities Depository statistics.
The value of the bond funds and other bond funds also increased by NOK 9.8 billion and NOK 6.2 billion respectively.
Life insurance companies net bought
Life insurance companies and pension funds net bought fund shares amounted to NOK 7.4 billion during the second quarter of the year. NOK 4.5 billion of this amount was equity fund shares.
Foreign investors net bought fund shares of NOK 3.2 billion during the second quarter of 2014. They net bought mostly equity funds that amounted to NOK 1.5 billion.
Households net purchased
The household sector net purchased shares of NOK 1.0 billion during the second quarter of 2014. The sector bought shares of other bond funds, bond funds and hybrid funds that amounted to NOK 2.2 billion, and sold shares of equity funds and money market funds that amounted to NOK 1.2 billion.
